Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy

How Bright Groove protects children across classes, trials, workshops and events.

Last updated: 3 October 2026 | Next review: September 2027

The welfare of every child is Bright Groove's first priority. This policy applies to everyone working with or on behalf of Bright Groove.

Our standards

Bright Groove provides an inclusive environment and gives equal priority to every child's safety. Teachers working on site hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and current safeguarding, first-aid and public-liability-insurance documentation appropriate to their role.

Safeguarding lead and reporting

Grazi Ramos (Graziele Ramos) is the Safeguarding Lead. Report concerns promptly to grazi@brightgroove.co.uk or WhatsApp +44 7923 003604. If the concern relates to the Safeguarding Lead, contact the relevant local authority children's services or Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). Call 999 where a child is in immediate danger.

Independent support

Adults can contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000. Children can contact Childline on 0800 1111.

Responding to a concern

Bright Groove will listen calmly, take the child seriously, avoid leading questions, never promise secrecy, make a factual record and share the concern only with those who need to act. Bright Groove will not investigate; it will seek safeguarding advice or make a referral when necessary. Parents are normally informed unless doing so could increase risk.

Safe practice

Attendance and collection are recorded; children are released only to an authorised adult. Staff maintain professional boundaries and do not use private social-media accounts to contact children. Any physical contact used for teaching or safety must be necessary, appropriate and explained. Identifiable photography or video requires parental opt-in consent.

Emergencies, missing children and late collection

Children remain supervised while Bright Groove follows the venue's emergency or missing-child procedure and contacts the parent, venue staff, safeguarding services or 999 as appropriate. A child awaiting late collection remains supervised in a safe place. Incidents are recorded.

Concerns about adults

Any allegation or concern about an adult is recorded and referred to the relevant safeguarding authority or LADO where required. Bright Groove will take immediate reasonable steps to reduce risk while advice is obtained.

Records and confidentiality

Safeguarding records are accurate, securely stored, access-restricted and retained in line with legal, insurance and safeguarding requirements. Confidentiality never prevents necessary information sharing to protect a child.

Venue arrangements

Classes take place at The Mall School, Twickenham. Bright Groove has recorded the school's emergency exits, assembly point, first-aid arrangements, safeguarding contact and missing-child procedure, and shares practical information with parents before the first class.
